Magrath Store News

24/5/2011

For the younger generations, they might not remember The Magrath Trading Company Store News. However, if you were born before the 1990's you are probably in them. While filing these store news I have had a blast going through and reading them. It is interesting to see what the clothes looked like they were advertising. It was phenomenal doing a price comparison, and I was stunned at how specific they were!

I was lucky enough to find my own parents wedding and it told me the bridesmaids, groomsmen, the colors of the wedding, who attended and there is simply loads of things to learn.

Come on in and check them out. You never know what you mind find.

It also had neat news like: Roger and Shauna of Edmonton are visiting their grandparents .. etc

It was our only wedding announcement. They had me married to Ken instead of Glen though. Good thing Alison and I knew the difference.

I remember my Mother Marilyn Neilson helping with the Store News many times, working with Sue Mikado, Norma Owens and many other good people. I even remember Alf & Maud Ririe. Good times, good memories

I was lucky to have been one of the last people to work on the store news. I had many great times up in the top of the Trading Company with Marilyn, Sue and Betty.

Back when there was no privatization laws. It told you who was in the hopital, names of new babies and family, who was in Magrath visiting, etc. etc. It also contained many wonderful recipes. It was a way to keep in touch before facebook.
